Description:

This training program provides an outline of the clinical, cognitive, and behavioral profiles of three well-known but often misunderstood types of personality disorders. It offers some insights regarding the identification of such disorders and how to formulate treatment approaches and behavioral intervention strategies in working with them. It also provides some guidelines in managing the destructive and self-destructive behaviors of clients with such disorders.

Objective:

  ·       Analyze and summarize the symptom presentations, cognitive and behavioral pattern of Borderline Personality Disorder

·       Analyze and summarize the symptom presentations, cognitive and behavioral pattern of Histrionic Personality Disorder.

·       Analyze and summarize the symptom presentations, cognitive and behavioral pattern of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

·       Identify common errors in diagnosing these personality disorders.

·       Identify co-morbid symptoms and disorders such as substance use/abuse, mood disorders associated with these personality disorders

·       Develop and apply strategies in containing and managing self-destructive and maladaptive behaviors.

·       Discuss treatment options and approaches in working with clients with these personality disorders

Social workers, case managers, and other mental health, behavioral health professionals, substance abuse counselors, other healthcare professionals and educators.

Session Notes:

Training is presented via Zoom. If this platform changes you will be notified by the training coordinator. Seven (7) CEU credits are available with full day attendance and completion of course evaluation.
